Artists, far and wide,  gathered in Ottawa and made (botanical art) history!

Led by the American Society of Botanical Artists,  Canada was one of twenty-five countries to participate in the first-ever global botanical art exhibition to celebrate Earth’s precious plant diversity. Art of the Plant was Canada’s contribution to this world-wide event.

The conference was a landmark event for Canadian botanical artists! It began with a celebratory vernissage on May 22, 2018, followed by a three-day conference.

Attendees were treated to a tour of the National Herbarium of Canada, which contains over one million plant specimens, a guided wildflower walk in Gatineau Park, botanical art workshops and fascinating presentations by remarkable, esteemed speakers from botanists to artists to scientific illustrators.
